Even an iconic princess needs a home refresh from time to time.

Walt Disney World has announced they are updating Cinderella Castle in honor of the animated classic’s 70th anniversary.

“Our park’s iconic, awe-inspiring centerpiece—Cinderella Castle—is about to get even more magical,” wrote Magic Kingdom Vice President, Jason Kirk.

“Cinderella first transformed into a princess 70 years ago this week when the animated classic was released—and ever since, her courage and kindness have been inspiring guests and cast members alike,” Kirk added.  “We are excited to share that her story has inspired a bold, shimmering and royal makeover of her namesake castle at the heart of Walt Disney World Resort.”

The renovations are set to begin in the upcoming weeks and last through the summer.

While specific details weren’t released, the accompanying concept art gave a glimpse of what the refurbished palace will look like.

The tallest portion of the castle appears to be painted in a pale pink color, while the front features its traditional grey stone work.

A much deeper shade of blue will adorn the spires’ shingles and a shimmering gold trim will be prominently featured on all the towers, spires and ramparts of the legendary structure’s facade.

Audiences have been in love with the Disney princess ever since the animated film first hit theaters on February 15th, 1950. Camila Cabello will don the glass slippers for a musical retelling of the fairytale, which is set to come out in 2021.

News of the castle’s update comes one week after it was revealed that both Disney World in Orlando, Florida and Disneyland in Anaheim, California have raised their prices of admission.

The parks will see a rise in the cost of their annual passes, although residents of Florida will still be able to get a Disney World Platinum Plus Pass for $999.

The increase comes less than a year since Disney World last raised their prices in June 2019.
