Megan Thee Stallion Blasts Back With 'Girls In The Hood’

Another Hot Girl hit for the summer

June 26, 2020

Yes ma’am! Megan Thee Stallion has blessed us with “Girls in the Hood” and guess what, it's hot, strike that, it's on fire. Meg is really out here doin the most, with no plans on stopping anytime soon.

After all, the rapper, recently landed her first number one hit with “Savage Remix" featuring Beyoncé, Meg then teased us with the single’s cover art days ago on Instagram and kept it simple with just the single name, release date and some cheeky emojis.

Based on the success of “Savage,” we were expecting this follow up to be the summer banger we so desperately need, and it turns out we were right. The track samples Eazy-E’s famous single “Boyz-n-the-Hood,” with the Hot Girl spin we’ve learned to expect Ms. Stallion.

And Meg really went off on this one, coming for those haters in the very first verse, “Wack h*** hate under my pictures on the 'Gram (Ugh) / B****, you better hope I never run across your man, uh.” Ayyyy, and she didn’t stop there, in verse two, Meg made sure to let them know, “any rumor 'bout me, let me dead it / I’m a open book and your man probably read it.”

Okurrr, Meg came to slay, and while there’s plenty of room at the table in the female rap game, this sure-to-be hit most definitely secures her a much coveted spot.

With the single drop, comes one lit AF lyric video filled with all the early 00’s vibes you didn’t know you needed (peep that Nokia cell, sooo retro). Also, for those Anime fans out there, can we get a golf clap for that Naruto reference that she dropped in there?!

Also we’d like to take a moment to point out that Meg called out Beyoncé in the lyrics to “Freak Nasty,” then came the “Savage Remix.” In this newest single, Rihanna gets a shout out, “Somebody call Rihanna, I’ma buy some drawers with him." So we’ll just leave that information right here.

“Girls In The Hood" is Megan’s fourth single for 2020, following up from “Diamonds” featuring Normani, “FREAK” with Tyga and “B.I.T.C.H.,” track number three off her third EP Suga.

Could this new single be followed up with an album announcement? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Whenever the albums does come, we’re sure it’ll be full of hits, but for now we’ll just have to enjoy her current ones.

Megan is nominated for five awards at the 2020 BET awards, the most of any female musician. And is also set to perform at this years virtual 20th Anniversary edition of the award show.
